Alumni News!!! Krisitin Shepherd graduate from 2005 is now a celebrated and published author! In a colorful and beautiful children’s book called “Virginia Beach Vacation,” Krisitin shares favorite and wonderful activities to do in our area. Kristin will be visiting VBFS on Friday May 2nd to be a guest reader for our littlest students as well as to speak with our Middle School about her time here at Friends School and her path to becoming a published author.

Today we had students off campus visiting the Norf

Today we had students off campus visiting the Norfolk Botanical Garden! This field trip was a collaboration of the garden and science programs at Friends School including grades 3rd-5th as well as 8th graders. Students are touring the gardens and learning about what native species are in bloom in April including camellias, Carolina jessamine, golden ragwort, and the cherry blossoms! They also set aside time on the field trip for meditation and journaling. They couldn’t have asked for a better spring weather day for learning beyond the classroom! 🌺

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it! Our students showed up, showed out, and stretched beyond their limits at their Forensics competition yesterday. From wonderful performances to pushing personal boundaries, they proved what hard work and heart can do. Our students placed in coed speech reading, girls prose, and we had our Robert S Sergent medal recipient. All participants are winners in our book! Huge thank you to their coaches and leaders!

We are so proud of one in particular 8th grade STAR that is performing in “Big Fish,” a musical at the King’s Players Community Theatre at CoVa Church! Huge congratulations on an incredible performance and achievement. We encourage all in our community to go see her shine in the upcoming shows April 10th-April 12th. The talent is impressive and the heartfelt show is suitable for all ages! So proud of you!
