Founded in 1955, the Virginia Beach Friends School proudly embraces a 350-year tradition of Quaker educational principles. At Friends School, we integrate the Quaker values of equality, community, integrity, simplicity, peace, and environmental stewardship that encourages mutual respect, personal responsibility, and the fulfillment of each person’s potential, based on the Quaker belief that there is that of God in everyone.
This month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Tessa Stern, VBFS Valedictorian for the Class of 2018. Through Tessa’s time at Friends, she’s not only been a model student both in and out of the classroom, but has undoubtedly made a positive impact on our community. In addition to being a member of the National Honor Society, maintaining the highest GPA in her class, and earning numerous academic awards in all subjects, Tessa was awarded the Charles Barker Scholarship for community service, as well as the Virginia-Pilot Award for Academic Excellence. From all of us at Friends, we’d like to thank Tessa for all of her hard work, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store.
